I feel incredibly blessed to live so close to my grandparents. I talk with them daily, see them weekly, and they have loved me unconditionally for 28 years. Tonight we celebrate my grandfather's 84th birthday! We wanted to take him to dinner and he chose Longhorn.
We celebrated his work ethic, green thumb, political know-how, easy laughter, and A.D.D.-ness over steaks and green salad.

FYI: We call my grandfather Palsy (pronounced Pal-Z). My cousin called him Pal as soon as he could talk and I added the Z when I was born two years later. The name stuck, so much so, he even has a set on personalized NJ license plates.
