Madmen circa 2010
Tonight I will play Betty to my Don Draper. I will wear my nicest dress, top it with pearls and accessories. I will make small talk with strangers and nod politely at political comments. I will clap when the candidate takes the stage and I will pretend to listen as he gives yet another vanilla stump speech. I will stand next to Mr. Republican as he works the room and make sure to remember the new names and faces we will meet. I will support my husband in his future goals to make this county a better place to live and work. At least I get to wear my new pink dress!

4/13: America's Got Talent and so do my students!

4/12: How cool am I?
Today I met Rick Yancey, author of the Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp.
The book is great. Rick Yancy was an awesome speaker.
My 7th graders, who aren't impressed by anyone, were silent and starring at attention.
I even got his authograph. Yes, that is how cool I am.
4/11: The New Puppy Park
I realize this is a historic monument dating back to 1672. I also realize that this is a national park landmark that once surrounded my city and protected it from the invading British. I am also well aware that 300 years worth of battles were fought here by three different nations.
But to Simon and Sophie this is the best dog park they have ever seen. They love the rolling hills, the kids that pet them, and the occasional crumb of people food they find.
They aren't even bothered by the cannons and the reenactors. I guess at there level we must all look the same.

4/11: A healthy dinner?
I decided dinner was not necessary tonight and that dessert was a more viable and delectable option.
I made this.
It is a Pioneer Woman creation and it is good! Really good! Amazing even.
Especially if you top it with this stuff.
If you also happen to go to Costco and buy too many blackberries in the near future you should make this too!
I ate mine while catching up on Season III of Big Love. The show is a mess. An absolute mess. And I promise to stop watching it, right after this season.

4/10: What makes me happy?
1. A Tuna Melt: Yes, I know that is old people food and it contains mayo and mercury. But it is still my favorite sandwich especially topped with jalepenos, black olives, and cucumbers. But what really makes me happy is that it was a dinner that I did not have to make. (grin)

2. These guys. I had a lazy weekend of no real commitments so I walked them three times and even took a nap with them in the new bed. It was lovely and peaceful.
Our game cabinet. It is full of my favorite boardgames that I have collected overtime.
3. We tried out PICTUREKA tonight!
4. Having our media room floor look like this.
5. Turning the TV off and talking to my husband.
6. And it wouldn't be a game night without these guys trying to steal the show.
4/10: Mr. R got a new toy!
For Christmas Mr. R asked Santa for an edger and trimmer. Santa, via Mr. R's parents, delivered a home depot giftcard that he has been itching to use.
After lots of research and a BILLION Home Depot visits he settled on the Black & Decker 24V trimmer and the edger will be purchased at a later date. It has been charging all day and will be up and running tomorrow.
Say sayonara to these overgrown babies! My hubs has a new powertool and he is NOT afraid to use it! FYI: We also got new eye protection just incase!
