Teacher Style Files

I have a closet full of clothes and yet I find myself saying almost daily that I have NOTHING to wear. I am not creative when it comes to my clothes and I often find myself wanting to buy new clothes rather than get creative with what I have. Teacher Style Files is my way of stretching my closet, demanding creativity in my work wardrobe, and sharing my outfits with you.

Monday: Black and white striped skirt (Old Navy), pink ruffle tank (NY&Co) , and leopard cardigan (H&M), black flats (Payless)
Tuesday: Blue and white polkadot blouse (H&M) layered over my little black dress (Old Navy), black flats (Payless)
Thursday: Navy blue wrap dress (GAP), navy leggings (Old Navy), tan boots (Target)

JOY!

Bloggers, please excuse me. I allowed my joy to be stolen this week and I wallowed in my sad little life. I let circumstances dictate my feelings. I forgot I am a Christian who has been forgiven for so much and that no matter what is going on in my household or my life I need and have reason to be joyful.
So with that being said...

Joy is waking up to a beautiful Florida day and opening our window for the 1st day since June. We have no AC running! I am so thankful for clean air and warm breezes.

Joy is going to church and seeing friends I haven't seen in a while.

Joy is not cooking lunch, but having it made for you instead.

Joy is visiting my grandparents and giving them a new plant for their garden.

Joy is two very sweet dachshunds who cuddle and take a nap with me on the chaise.

Joy is a swim in the neighborhood pool.

Joy is a semi clean house and a fresh start to the week.

"Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy." - John 16:22

More reasons to love Audrey

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls." -AH

I think I may have a bit of a crush on Audrey Hepburn. She is my ideal version of what a woman should be like. Full of class, flawless beauty, and a little bit cooky. I saw this quote posted on another lovely blog today and I couldn't help but steal it.

Today I went to work in my favorite dress and 4 inch heels. I wore my hair down and even some mascara for the occasion. I felt like a different person. After an entire summer in white polos, bathing suits, and Birkenstocks it felt amazing to be dressed again. I don't know if this is scientifically true, but I think it is impossible not to feel amazing in a dress, heels, and pearls. Today was a good day, I generally had fun meeting the parents, setting up my schedule, and planning for the next few weeks. My feet are a little sore, but that is to be expected.

I am happy to be spending my weekend with Mr. R. We have events to keep us busy through Sunday and that makes me happy. If Ms. Hepburn's logic about happiness and prettiness being tied together, then I just might be the prettiest girl in the room!

5/24: My New Favorite Dress

My favorite part of any weight loss is finding that some old clothes now fit. This dress hadn't seen the light of day in 18 months and I was able to wear it to work today! Size 12 thank you very much!
Here's to another month of running, lifting, and losing!

Yellow, you are my fave.

I am in love with my yellow sweater.
Not as much as I love Jesus or Mr. R or the pups, but its pretty close.
I find myself going into my closet and pulling it out at least 4 times a week.
In fact I am wearing it right now.

Here are a few pictures from my birthday. I had a 28th birthday photo shoot in my bathroom. And of course, I am wearing my favorite yellow sweater.

NSV!

I am back in my favorite old navy jeans. Its been about 18 months, but we are back together and happier than ever. They are still a little tight on the bum, so they won't be making it out of the house just yet. But it totally made my Wednesday!

NSV!

Back when I first started weight watchers online I joined the 20 something blog and made great virtual friendships with a few girls who were newlyweds like me. I quickly learned new online terms such as DH or DB (dear husband/boyfriend) and SV(scale victory) or NSV (non-scale victory).

Today was a NSV day for me. I was standing in my closet this morning lamenting over not having anything to wear when I saw an old dress from '08. It was an Easter dress I bought at DressBarn and then grew a little to thick in the middle to wear it nicely. Truthfully, I can only remember wearing it twice. With a hope and a prayer I slid it on and it looked decent! Nice in fact. I actually got quite a few compliments at work, which truly made my day.

Here is my bathroom mirror picture of my NSV. I am trying to get better at these self-portaits...if only I had a NIKON D5000... (Just kidding!) The iphone will do for now.
But seriously, my hand looks giant in this picture!

Old Navy is stealing my money.

So I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Old Navy. Seasons will go by when I cannot find a single thing in the store I would wear and then summer/spring rolls around and I fall back in love the cheap wardrobe staples they offer. I don't know about your t-shirts but mine seem to fall apart in the 9 months between summers. And of course who doesn't love camis with ruffles and cute tanks with ruffle sleeves. (I think J.Crew made something similar last season).

And look at the salior pants. I have a thing for sailor pants, it's something about all those buttons... Anyway I think I need both colors in my closet. And look at the floral skirts. I had a few from Forever 21 a few years back and they are in need of replacing. I am so glad knee length florals are back. I especially love the grey one. My plan is to convince Mr. R that I need everything on this list...
I do have a birthday coming up after all.

And if you also think Old Navy might be stealing some of your money in the near future use this CODE: ONSAVE20 It will save you 20%!

What I really wore...

After many wardrobe changes and my need to match Mr. R. I settled on my new watercolor dress, (thanks Mom!), black cardigan, and the flats you saw in my previous post. I felt totally comfortable in the dress and was actually dressed appropriately for the venue. I think my biggest fear, besides public nakedness, is being under dressed and a swanky party.I think I also have a new favorite drink to replace my current obsession with white sangria and mojitos. It's called the Washington Apple and it tastes just like a candy apple. Yum!
