Office Progress Day 3:

First up: Home Depot Trip for Martha's curtain rods
Fancy pants window treatments
(thank you Pier1 clearance rack... $24!)

The bookcase...
Mr. R. has a ridiculous amount of books and now they have an organized place to live.
The books are now stored along side his George Bush jack-in-the-box, creepy Newt Gingrich picture, and Cowboys memorabilia.
The media room rug moved into the office as did a comfy chair for reading...
As you can see Simon promptly claimed this chair as his!
Mr. R's desk and video game center.
I think we all like this office/man cave makeover!
Stay tuned for wall art, the sofa bed, and new hardware.

Office Progress Day 2:

Stencil
Sponges and paint
An entire roll of Blue Tape used & Mr. R. on touch-ups
A finished accent wall!
I am feeling pretty pleased with myself.
One task down, 14 more to go...
Stay tuned!

Mr. R's Office

Before:
During:
As you can see we are still painting Casa Republican. Once you give me a brush and roller I can't seem to stop. Mr. R.'s office is actually the last room on the PIPER IS COMING FINISH THIS STUFF NOW to-do list.
Mr. R's painting shorts crack me up. They date back to our first painting project of September 07. You can see all the colors we have used in our various rooms and on our furniture since then. I hope he never gets rid of them. They are our wearable time capsule.

This is our music station.
Pandora 80s pop makes the time fly by.

Mr. R. picked out the color, mariner blue by Behr.
And thankfully the walls only needed one coat plus a few touch ups.
One gallon at $19.50 was all that was required.
The accent wall will contain a copper filigree stencil.
I think in a past life I was Debbie Travis.

The plan for the rest of this week is to tackle:
  • curtains
  • desk & printer
  • guest bed and nightstand
  • internet hook-up
  • book & file organization
  • wall art
  • and storage
Wish me luck!

Weekend Productive:

Laundry Pile
I have been avoiding laundry LIKE THE PLAGUE! And Mr. R. bless his heart tries to keep up with a load here and there, but its just not working. Today we did 6 loads, washed, folded, and partially ironed... I think we have about 3 left. I really hate laundry.

Clean kitchen
Dishes done, cabinets contained (or should I say mostly managed), fridge cleaned and sanitized, leftovers frozen, and pantry organized.

Progress in Pippa's Room Continues:
We bought her crib mattress today. (Thank you Target)
And bedding for the daybed in her room. (Thank you Marshalls)

Mr. R.'s Office:
We have paint! Mr. R. selected Martha Stewart for Home Depot's Mariner Blue with silver for the accent wall. Now I just have to find the right stencil.
I think we might actually be finished with the office by his birthday!
That would be the most awesome present ever!

And because I am an awesome wife I made Mr. R. a stellar dinner tonight.
( I wish sarcasm came through on the blog... because tonight's dinner was catered by the Publix frozen foods section).

I am off to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall with my man.
Oh to be in Hawaii...

Progress in Piper's Room

Piper now has a dresser/changing table, a book case, and a twin bed.
Mr. R. spent the better part of his weekend staring at IKEA instructions and using that weird little wrench tool.
It's incredibly hard to believe that in 10 short weeks our little one will be here!

Gulliver's Travels

Our Gulliver started out in a box.
Mr. R. got determined this afternoon and decided the box needed to go.
He got out our tools.
And 45 minutes later...Piper has a crib!
My husband is awesome!
Post crib we took a drive in the Cabrio.
It's 80 degrees here and total top down weather :)
And for dinner, you can't beat two for one nugget night.

Piper's Room (A quick preview)

We have been hard at work painting, priming, silhouette tracing, repainting, and finally stenciling.

Yesterday I showed you my nursery inspiration.
The brilliant Rene told me about an HGTV nursery makeover that included wallpaper safari animals.

I went looking for the show and came across the Holland based company Inke. They will sell you these adorable wallpaper animals for $250 a piece.
A bit out of our price range.

So then I moved onto DIY inspiration. With the help of Ohdeedoh, I found Ozzy's bright Safari.
His talented Mom painted all of these animals at 38 weeks pregnant!
(I cannot even imagine.)

Mr. R and I decided to roll up our DIY sleeves and give Inke a run for their money.

It started with transparency sheets and an overhead projector.
I traced the images onto Piper's walls with a sharpie.
(Oh, how I love drawing on walls!)

Mr. R painted the silhouettes with white primer.
I spent my afternoon finding the perfect shades of pink :)
Each animal was then repainted in shades of sweet taffy, candy coated, and fading rose.
(Do you think that they pay someone to come up with those names? If so, can I be that someone?)
Next we stenciled.
And here is a preview of all of our hard work.
More to come later this week!

And here is my belly in it's 28 week glory!
Up 8 pounds total and no pants fit me AT ALL.
It's maternity stretch all the way.
