Wordless Wednesday (Almost)

I had 4 miles on the training calendar for today and I was not feeling motivated. I even asked Mr. R to give me a pep talk on the way to the gym. Let me tell you, he needs to work on his pep talk skills. I think he mumbled something about goal setting and hydration and then told me to "get at it".
I did run my 4 miles today and I am proud to say I ran them in honor of MCM Mama who is turning 40 today! Happy Birthday! She posted a virtual race on her blog with the option to run 4 miles, 8.25 miles (in honor of the actual date) or a 40K (if you are crazy enough!).
Dinner tonight was rockin'! I wanted something fastfood-ish, but without the millions of calories. My favorite bar food is buffalo wings. In fact after almost every exam in grad school you would find me at Carpool (a bar in Arlington) drinking snakebite and chowing down on fried food covered in hot sauce. We had a weight watchers friendly version tonight. I used this recipe and served it with a side of mashed potatoes, carrots, and celery.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday:

New kicks!
Day 15: 4 miles and only 1 blister
(not bad!)

FYI: I am an overpronator so NIKE Air with Arch support is my BFF when it comes to running shoes.

6/23: (Almost) Wordless Wednesday

She has been saving this half of a milk-bone for 3 days. Until recently, it was buried under our chaise cushion. And then Simon found it. You should have seen Sophie's face. She couldn't believe he found it!

In other news, the lap lanes in the pool were occupied today so I did water aerobics instead. That class is no joke. We didn't stop jumping, kicking, and twisting for 60 minutes. I also did arms and abs at the gym tonight. Mr. R says my muffin top is starting to become more of a mini-muffin top. Progress is progress people.

Don't you just love how pictures can tell a story.
What do these photos say to you?

4/14: Less Words on Wednesday

Mr. R and I attended a fundraiser tonight. It was held in an amazing home, with an amazing foyer, where an amazing chandelier the size of my body hung from a ceiling so high it could touch the stars. The attendees wrote checks of 1,000.oo to attend. And I got to the shake the hand of a gubernatorial candidate. I drank wine, wore a pretty new dress, and made small talk with various attendees. However, I didn't get to have dinner. So Mr. R treated me to dinner. And dressed in our finest duds we ordered from the red drive through window and came home to feast on chicken nuggets and waffle fries.
It really was a perfect night.

Less Words on Wednesday

On Wednesdays I want to take a break from my usual wordiness and let the pictures or actions speak for themselves.

This is one part of my cheer wall. My students draw me pictures, write me thank you notes, and design comics or advertisements about what we are learning in science. This wall is write behind my desk and it is the perfect reminder that I am where I am supposed to be and doing what I am supposed to be doing.

There are days when I have to defend myself to idiotic parents, fight against ridiculous merit pay Senate 6 bills, and respond to 3,000 emails. On these days I wonder, why am I doing this for so little pay when I could be making a ton more money back in environmental engineering? And then I look at my wall and the faces of my students and I remember than I am on God's plan and this desk, this classroom, these walls, and those faces are exactly what I should be concentrating on right now.
